Lanier's
Family Campground - Surf City, NC
We vacationed at the beach in the summer of 2004. We chose to stay
at Lanier's Family Campground. We took a chance on this one and
we weren't disappointed. The campground was very clean and the
staff was friendly. No one bothered us during our stay. What
we liked most was how close the campground is to Topsail Beach. They
say they are 5 minutes from the beach and they're right. If you
drive to the end of the road they are on, make a right and drive straight,
you will run right into the beach.
Some amenities include, a good-sized pool, a small grocery with
small arcade, restaurant, showers, coin laundry and a security
patrol.
Their rates were good @ $30.00/night for full hook-up. They
are a Good Sam campground so Good Sam Club members get 10% off.
There were a couple of things that we didn't like, but were willing
to overlook. Most of the RVs/Trailers are long-term and were
really packed together. Our site had trailers 8ft to the
rear and 12ft on both sides. The people to the rear had a
wood deck and we could hear whenever they walked on it.
The other thing that bothered us was the lack of supervision for
many of the resident children. The children (mostly young teenagers)
were allowed to be out very late. There were a couple of
mornings (between 1 and 2 am) when we would be awakened to the
sound of laughing/yelling from the playground area.
Overall we enjoyed our 4 night stay. The beaches of Topsail
Island are some of the best in NC and the people there are friendly. Lanier's
Campground runs the way a campground should. They serve their
customers in every way.
